when you’re writing about dnd elves and you want them to have a dream, what do you do?
They can have dreams while they trance
They choose to sleep for some reason and have dreams then
Ignore the whole “trance” thing and just have elf sleep work like humans
They choose to sleep specifically to have dreams
Other??? (I’d love other ideas!)

Aw fuck I should have added an option for: if they sleep, they still only need 4 hours rest
My point being: if you want your elf to have a dream do you have them choose to sleep but have to rest longer for full rest than a trance would take
Or, do you come up with another way of writing it?
Cause yes, the simplest option is to allow them to have dreams while they trance. But then that brings up the question: what actually differentiates a trance from sleep? Are they different enough if an elf can dream while they trance?

a couple years ago, i got really ambitious and decided i was going to make a uquiz. it would be the uquiz to end all uquizzes, it would mean i used my history degree and it would be queer with a capital Q. and to be fair to past me, i did all the questions, had chosen what (or who, in this case) the results would be, and just had to write the bios for those results, which i did half of... and then crashed. two years later, i finally convinced myself to finish it off, so i mostly proudly present the 'which historical gay are you?' uquiz. if your result's bio is a little lacking, thats not because youre boring, it's because i'm chronically ill <3

A mandatory-high-school-spanish-class knowledge of Zemnian.
